The Sony DCR-SX40 is an entry-level flash memory-based ultra-compact handycam that records standard-definition video to Memory Sticks.

Range Of Features

Zoom Feature
The Sony DCR-SX40's impressive 60x optical zoom lens is the most powerful feature in this camcorder. Other camcorder use 10x - 40x. The camera lens is manufactured by Carl Zeiss with 39-2340mm (35mm equivalent) Vario-Tessar type. Type Zoom lens is F/1.8-6.0 with focal length 1.8 mm - 108 mm. It's protected by built-in lens shield. Focus can be adjusted automatically and manually, while zoom is adjusted by motorized drive. Digital zoom up to 2000x which really great.
Resolution
Resolution in LCD is up to 123,000 pixels, with manual display form factor rotating. Its low pixel count and a dearth of manual controls, but these are to be expected for this price. More pixels usually mean better viewfinder and LCD image quality. Look for a sharp LCD that's easy to see in bright light; adjustable screen brightness helps, too. The larger the LCD, the easier it will be to see (and the more power-hungry it will be); for all but ultracompact camcorders, look for at least 2.5 inches. The LCD is touch-screen that begin to appear on a few consumer video cameras, usually for menu navigation and spot focusing. Some users find them convenient, while others prefer not to have to use the LCD to access camcorder controls.
